Don't You Just Hate It When...
Don't you hate it when you go to the doctor at 27 weeks (yes, 27 weeks not the normal 20 weeks like everyone else) thinking that you will get an ultra sound to actually see what kind of parasite is living in your belly and to your surprise all you get to do is sit at the doctors while your child rams the wheely chair into the wall a million times (and you hope a large hole doesn't appear) for almost 2 hours? Then when the nurse comes in she asks you 5 times about whether the doctor in Utah did a test on you. You tell her 5 times that no he didn't because you didn't have insurance and the nice doctor didn't want you to have to pay out of pocket for more things then was necessary (yes, you say this same thing to her 5 times). When the doctor finally comes in he asks the student nurse what kind of things could happen to a baby if the mother is taking anti-seizure medication like you are taking. The student nurse of course doesn't know the answer so the doctor says well it could cause a cleft palate and then he says some other things that aren't really that big of a deal so you speak up and say yes those drugs can do that but the real concern is the drugs can cause the spinal cord to not be attached. The doctor then says oh.. well yeah that's also a concern. Then he says to come back in 2 to 3 weeks to get your ultra sound (and take that dumb sugar test which makes anyone want to throw up especially when your mind thinks you are going to drink orange soda and then your tongue realizes it's not, why can't they just let you eat a giant Snickers Bar it would do the same thing). So all the way to the elevator two of you keep saying what was the point of that appointment and the third one in your group keeps asking to ride the elevator and push the wheely chair and play in the fountain! Don't you just hate it when that happens? I know I do.

Darn! So sorry! Hope everything goes better at your next appointment.
ReplyDeleteI dislike going to the doctor as well. I hope your next appointment only lasts half as long...or shorter, but let's not get too optimistic.
ReplyDeleteNo fun! I do hate it when that happens! Jk ;-) You should get a new doctor!
