Elder Evans who is a member of the Quorum of the Seventy, who I lived by growing up and who I have come to truly love, came and spoke to the young adults in St. George yesterday. The meeting was for the purpose of changing the way Single Wards are set up. There will no longer be college/student wards, or single wards (for those who are older) in the church they are now called simply Young Single Adult Wards. Everyone thought the meeting was going to be about how they are going to get us married off by combining everyone together. Instead it was dedicated to President Monson's theme which is doing our part in rescuing those who have fallen away from the gospel. Elder Evans had us all raise our right arm to the square and commit to pray and ask God how we can be apart of "The Rescue" and ask for an opportunity to welcome someone, and be someones friend who needs the gospel back in there life. There are thousands of young adults in the St. George area who are less active and it has become a huge concern to the general authorities. We were promised that if we were to "pray and ask for an opportunity to help someone come back to church then hundreds will come back, and many miracles will take place this year."
Amazingly enough three weeks ago in Relief Society the teacher had us also commit to pray and ask for a missionary opportunity. The next Sunday I received a phone call from a man back in Salt Lake asking if I might help his less active granddaughter out who has recently moved to St. George. I thought about her all week and did nothing about it. I was definitely called to repentance when Elder Evans started talking about promptings and said:
"If you want to draw closer to God, if you want a prayer answered, then pray and ask who you can help."
"What ever your prompting is do it and do it quickly...If we act on our promptings our belief and hope will become a testimony and a sure knowledge." He then quoted President Monson who has said on more than one occasion; "Never Delay Acting Upon A Prompting."
I'm not quite sure why I'm even writing this post or where it is going but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to rant for a little, this is not meant to be a sermon or a speech but simply to get my thoughts out.
I have been praying a lot about my life but what I should have been doing is asking how I could help those around me. By acting upon those promptings to serve others is how our life will fall into place. President Kimball once said "It is vital that we serve our fellow men." Most days I forget how I have already covenanted that I would serve those around me. So I am sorry to those who I received a prompting to help and yet did nothing, please forgive me.
My knew goal in life is to "never delay acting upon a prompting."
It was mentioned many times yesterday how the "only thing that matters in this life is our testimony of Jesus Christ." If we do not ask God how we can better serve others, or ask for that opportunity to bear our testimony then that faith in Christ will dwindle because we are not helping it to grow. Our knowledge of our Savior must be our foundation.
Thanks for listening.

Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson brings back a lot of memories from high school.
At this concert Clayson decided that we had found my EC (Eternal Companion). He was heavily intoxicated...but he could dance, and dance he did with his friend right by him. Don't worry I also started to copy his moves. They were pretty sweet!
This video is dedicated to our friend Kelli, since she lives far away and could not join us that night (and since anytime Clayson or I hear Jack we think of her).
